Congratulations to those who passed. All students who worked hard managed to pass, some with merit and others passed with distinction.
Here are the top scorers for the internal exam for the respective Grades:
Grade 1: Naz / Karina (both scored 80)
Grade 2: Charlyn (87)
Grade 3: Kimberly (84)
Grade 4: Bernadette (90)
We have come a long way from the days of 2005 where our best players and most senior students could not even play a Grade 1 piece. Those same students who could not play helped to put a system that we have today in place and for that I am grateful. The committees that followed carried on this move to increase our playing standards by having Graded exams as part of our music programme.
We have set the standard and the example for our country and many other guitar ensembles are following us in including Graded exams into their program. I'm very proud of you all. I know we did not end on a high note for our music camp but I'd like to remind you again that I am proud of you and your achievements over the past few years and I'm glad to see you all much more bonded as friends and as an ensemble. (we should have more overnight camps in the future!)
Keep practicing and smiling (maybe that will help your instructor's weak smiling muscles to work more often)
Terence Choo

Congratulations to those who have passed. Keep working hard and encouraging each other along the way. All students who passed achieved an average score of 85%, some got around 75% while others got around 93%. A good guide to passing the audition would be to score above 85% (Gold with Honours mark)There are 16 passes altogether so that means that we CAN send a team for SYF 2009 and we WILL aim to put up one of the best performances on the SYF day.
In no order or merit:BernadetteMichelleAmandaBeatriceMariaJaniceJia YanShonelleVictoriaKimberlyNazCassandraRegineZoeJia YingAliciaThose whose names are not here, you have stay after practice on 3rd December at TPJC after practice from 12 noon to 1:30pm. You will then tell me if you are doing the re-audition or not. Please come for the re-audition only if you are quite sure you can pass because if you do not, then I cannot put you on the SYF team. If you wish to re-audition next year, you may also do so in January but I will expect more from you as you have had more time to practice than your friends.Music leaders, please help your members pass the audition, meet them up to practice with them before 3rd Dec. Please play really well for your re-audition, don't give me any reason / chance to fail you.
Those who put in effort in the correct way are likely to pass, so if you worked hard, you will pass.
